Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed the government officials to be ready to provide all kinds of assistance to the flood victims if the ongoing flood situation in the country persists. The Prime Minister directed to provide all assistance to the flood victims.
Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam, quoting the Prime Minister, said today, “If the ongoing flood situation in the country persists, the flood victims will have to provide all kinds of assistance.”
Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam briefed the media after the regular weekly meeting at the Secretariat office, The Prime Minister has given them a clear direction to take all possible measures to deal with any situation as there is a fear that the flood situation may become protracted.
He said the Prime Minister has asked government officials, especially field officials, to be always ready to deal with any situation if the floods are prolonged.
At the same time, the Prime Minister asked the government officials to be vigilant in distributing relief materials in the event of the Covid-19 epidemic. The directive came from a weekly regular cabinet meeting chaired by the prime minister on Monday morning, a day after giving similar instructions to leaders and activists.
The Prime Minister attended the meeting from her official residence Ganobhaban. Cabinet members and secretaries are connected to the secretariat via video conference.
